The time has come......Goodbye Cali

Hello Everyone!!! So the time has come for us to go, and although we are sad to leave family & friends behind we are super duper excited about the journey that lies ahead! We just wanted to take this time and thank all the people who have taken their time to wish us goodbye! So here goes and if I leave you out my apologies we have been blessed with so much love!!! To my THINK Together Program Leaders thanks for the potluck! To the Sultana School Staff thank you for the sweets party!! To the Kingsley Staff thank you for the happy hour!! Thanks to everyone who attended our going away party at Isabel's and going away dinner at my moms!! Thank you to our Marine family who came out for lunch! Thanks to my fellow Honduran friends Margarita and Erica who have invited me to lunch! Bottom line anyone who took time out of their life to spend with us Thank You! We know how busy everyone is and appreciate the love and support you all have given us! Hopefully I didn't leave anyone out, if I did my apologies and I am sure Tony will do damage control next time he posts ;)
So we leave tomorrow and I believe we are as ready as can be!! Packing has been quite the challenge for myself I want to take everything! Tony being the pro he is at packing has done well. We will spend some time with our families tonight and leave from Ontario Airport tomorrow morning. We will fly to Washington be there for a day and then off to Costa Rica!! Once we arrive in Costa Rica we will be heading to a retreat center about 45min. from the capital San Jose and will spend 4 days there together and then we will be taken to our separate training
sites where we will spend about 3 months. It looks like we will be about up to about 2hours away from each other so we can see each other on the weekends! We will keep you updated!! Bye bye Cali!!

peace & love

**On a sadder note my condolences go out to all Chileans in this time of tragedy they are in our thoughts and prayers.**

Peace Corps Job Descriptions

If we have been distant or become distant from anyone, we send our apologies. These past few days and even weeks have been really time consuming to say the least. It has been really crazy; moving out of our apartment, storing personal items, selling personal items, quitting our jobs, selling my truck, trying to figure out what to pack for two years, etc. This might sound like complaining, but it's exactly what we've been doing. So I thought I'd fill you in on what our job descriptions are;

Patty: Children, Youth and Families (CYF). "The overall purpose of the CYF project is to empower children, youth and families living in adverse conditions to lead positive roles in their family lives, their communities and the world of work; and to empower individuals to be leaders in their communities in order to lead healthy compitent lives in the future."

Tony: Rural Community Development (RCD). "The overall purpose of the RCD project is to promote local community development in poor, rural areas in order to empower the communities to improve their lives and take advantage of existing resources, assets, and opportunities".

These are both textbook descriptions from what the Peace Corps sent us, but we hope to have a first hand description within the next 4 months.
